Overview:

Mentoring has multiple benefits for managers and having a fundamental understanding of what mentoring is, and how to structure mentoring conversations will help you and your mentees get the most of out of a mentoring relationship. This course will take managers and mentors understanding of mentoring from a  simple conversation to being able to have a structured and actionable mentoring sessions to improve outcomes, learning, growth and development for mentees. It can also be used to support any mentoring programme your organisation may be adopting to ensure mentors take a robust and high quality approach to mentoring.

  • Explore what is mentoring, how it works and the role of a mentor.
  • Identify the difference between mentoring and coaching.
  • Explore the key skills, mindset and benefits of mentoring.
  • Reflect on what you have to offer as a mentor and why that it important.
  • Understand the key principles of mentoring and a framework to help you get the best out of mentoring conversations.
  • Explore different types of mentoring and the fundamentals of a strong mentor/ mentee relationship.
  • Practice mentoring in a safe environment.
  • Explore the key challenges you may experience as a mentor and how to overcome them.
